Movie Talk: New Spy Kids Sparks Family Togetherness

"I call the farting dog," shouted my 9-yr-old son. It's our little game every time we invite another family friendly film into our home. When CARS 2 hit theaters, we all fought over who was going to be Finn McMissile. I won that one. It's fun for us to "pick" a character out of the movie and live, vicariously, through him or her in the movie.

This time, however, we're not fighting over Cars characters, but Spy Kids Characters. The latest movie in the series, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, is now on DVD and BluRay. It's quickly become one of our favorites, sparking loads of family togetherness, something I'd pick every day if I could. What would you do with all the time in the world?

Who's Your Favorite Spy Kids Character?

I had to laugh a little because everyone was fighting of who was going to be the cool farting spy dog. Then, my 4-yr-old asks me, "Mom, who do you call?" I couldn't think of who I wanted to be. I mean, the dog is cool, but the villain? He's always fun to be when playing make-believe with my preschooler.

That's when he says, "You can be the Spy Mom. She's really pretty and you look like her to me." Well, I won't argue with that. I can pretend to be Jessica Alba for a day.

Momma Findings:

What I loved about the movie is, simply put, the message that family is important. Yes, it's fun to play pranks on each other, but at the end of the day? When my work is piled up, laundry needs to be done, and I feel like I'm fit to quit? I can turn to my children and let them know they are more important than all of it.

How do you spend time with your family?

In the film, the evil Time Keeper and his minions manipulate and steal time all because, as young boy, the Time Keeper was robbed of quality time with his dad. How do YOU make time for family? Is it game night appointment setting, spontaneous outings, or making an event out of a weekend night dinner together? I'd love to hear how your family makes time together via Twitter, use the hashtag #SpyKidsFamilyTime or in the comments.
