5 Things I Learned at the #SpeakNow Taylor Swift Concert

Last weekend was beyond amazing for my 8-yr-old daughter and I. To say we were excited would be an understatement. We. Were. Thrilled.

Thanks to CoverGirl, we were asked to attend the Taylor Swift Speak Now World Tour as a special guest. We got to go backstage and meet with her, first hand, and I can't believe how sweet she is. As a Mom, I'm excited to see such a stellar role model, like Taylor Swift, for young girls today. Her story and her presence left inspiration in my daughter's heart that will last for a lifetime, but what did I learn? How did I feel seeing young girls go crazy over this music sensation?

Well, I'll admit it, I was a little nervous at how this would all go. Would she be one of those celebrities that is more annoyed to have to meet with common folk like us? Or would she welcome us with open arms? It was amazing experience overall. So much so, that I came up with five things I learned at the Taylor Swift Concert:

1. Taylor's Fans are hardcore: There were SO many fans at the sold-out concert, but what surprised me was the amount of signs people made AND shirts. Everyone and their Momma's has handmade shirts they made for the occasion. Oh, and the songs? They knew ever word.

2. Real Men Like Taylor Swift: Well, at least that's what one man's shirt said. All kidding aside, there were SO many Dads there with their daughter's and that, in itself, is encouraging at the generation of Father's who take the time to develop meaningful relationships with their daughters. Just ask MochaDad.. he was there.

3. Taylor is Super Tall: I'll admit. I'm pretty short at 5'0 {with heels}, but I was in shock at how much taller she was.

4. She is SO Talented: We all knew she could sing, but at the Speak Now Concert she played guitar, banjo, piano, and sung her little heart out.

5. She's an Inspiration to Young Women: I met so many different women from around the country who flew in to see her. From Florida, Georgia, Arizona, and even New York, flocks of young girls were there because, at one point in their lives, this entertainer has inspired them to follow their dreams, love others, and speak now.

Our Speak Now Experience:

I can't say enough about our experience. I have to SHOW you.

This was the first "real" concert experience for my kids. I knew that at this concert, I wouldn't have to worry about foul language, anything graphic, etc. It was a safe place for our family to enjoy great music and a great role model. It was fabulous!!!! PS - my husband joined us and had a great time. He's in the music industry, so if he gives a thumbs up to a concert - you can take that to the bank!

What a blessing and special memory. My daughter and I are huge TS fans. I was able to get tickets to her concert a couple of years ago for her and I...at the last minute she really wanted to take her best friend...so I gave up my ticket. Bittersweet. I would love to be able to have an experience like this and meet her.
