#WhirlpoolMoms: What Kind of Detergent to Use in High Efficiency Washers
I've gotten SO many questions from readers and followers about what kind of laundry detergent to use with their High Efficiency Washer. You guys remember when I visited the Whirlpool headquarters? I got to talk to the scientists and experts behind the Whirlpool brand, more specifically fabric expert Tre Mitchell Wright. He gave us so many tips on fabric care, but he said if there is one thing he needs to emphasize, first hand, is you can ONLY use HE Detergent in HE Washers. "It's the law."
Okay, maybe not the law, but there are reasons why you do this and today? I'm showing my favorite HE detergents and fabric softeners. You said, they're hard to find and I'm here to show nope.. not so much.
I learned three reasons you should ONLY use HE labeled detergent in your washer. Besides the fact that you'd like to maintain your appliance, think about this, if you use regular detergent instead of HE detergent, in your Whirlpool Duet Washer...
1. Your cleaning performance drops.
2. Rinse efficiency changes.
3. Cycle time will increase.
High Efficiency Washers are made to use less suds and more agitation to accurately clean your clothes. If you use regular laundry detergent, you risk suds being left on your clothes and the chance of having to rewash the whole load.
PLENTY! I've had so many people mention that they can't find any, but really, they don't look anymore special than regular detergent, but they'll have the HE logo on the label stating it's safe to use in HE washers.

I am a purex mom all the way! Purex crystals are my new favorite things. I have never used softener until they came out.
WOW, these are some great options. I see plenty of HE detergents too. I think part of it is that it used to be in really big letters but now the logo is really small. So they are there but it's harder for people to find them.
