In the real world of today, Moms face mountains of laundry. We face unfounded stains on our children's clothing and most of all? We face this never ending chore of washing, drying, and putting away clothes. Seriously. It never ends, espescially with three children and a husband who is very particular about changing his socks a million times a day.
Recently, I made a visit to the Real Whirled Whirlpool Condo in Benton Harbor, Michigan. There, I met with the experts and scientists (yes, they are scientists) to learn more about laundry, how to get out those tough stains, AND the best practices for my new Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer Set. We even did a little cooking. Ok... a LOT of cooking all with Whirlpool Appliances. I left the Real Whirled House with knowledge I didn't even know existed. I mean, I'm pretty savvy in the kitchen and laundry room, so I was in shock at all the little things the Real Whirled House taught me to make life easier as a real world Mom.
Well, I asked that too, when I first opened the invitation. The Real Whirled House is a condo in Benton Harbor, Michigan that serves as a training center for new employees of Whirlpool. There are four kitchens and four laundry rooms jam packed with different Whirlpool appliances. The employees go here to learn all there is about Whirlpool and the appliances they make. We were the FIRST Non-Whirlpool Employees to stay there, which is a huge honor. All in all, it was almost like Real World for Bloggers. {Cue Music}
I know you wanna know these things. In fact, that was the SECOND question I asked after invited. Who's going to be there? If I'm going to be living with someone for a few days, I gotta know who they are! Take a look and see if you know anyone.
While, I have two posts planned in the next few days bringing you guys lots of laundry tips and the unveil of my laundry room makeover, I HAVE to let you in on a few things I learned that left my jaw dropped. Seriously. Jaw was dropped.
I think most of the jaw dropping came from learning about dishwashers. I didn't own a dishwasher until I got married 10 years ago. I didn't know how to load it, what soap to use, or how to keep it maintained. Here are a few tips and tidbits from the Whirlpool Dishwasher Expert:
Stay tuned over the next few days for more tips from the Whirlpool Experts on laundry and cooking and you don't want to miss the unveil of my new laundry room makeover along with my Whirlpool Moms Video Diary. In the meantime, have you checked out how I prepared for my new Whirlpool Duet Set?
Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a test-drive campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Whirlpool and received a complimentary Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer to facilitate my review. Opinions stated are my own and never wavered by products received or compensated unless otherwise stated. All expenses for the trip were paid for my Whirlpool.

Real Whirled Advice for Real Moms:
While, I have two posts planned in the next few days bringing you guys lots of laundry tips and the unveil of my laundry room makeover, I HAVE to let you in on a few things I learned that left my jaw dropped. Seriously. Jaw was dropped.
I think most of the jaw dropping came from learning about dishwashers. I didn't own a dishwasher until I got married 10 years ago. I didn't know how to load it, what soap to use, or how to keep it maintained. Here are a few tips and tidbits from the Whirlpool Dishwasher Expert:
- The very first dishwasher was introduced in 1893 at the World Fair.
- Dishwashers today use 3 gallons of water Vs. the 10 gallons before.
- New Dishwashers can hold up to 15 place settings and was with 3 gallons of water Vs. 27 gallons of water when you hand wash.
- Water consumption is cut in a third.
- Quick Washing on your Dishwasher uses MORE energy. It's like a car. If you go 80mph you get there faster, but you use more gas in the process.
- Some dishwashers have filters inside that you can wash to keep it running properly. EYE OPENING. I had no idea.
- Never place glasses/cups directly on the dishwasher prongs. This will result in spots on the inside of your glasses. Place them in between the prongs.
- Use the side attachment handles to hold your wine glasses. I had no idea that's what it was for!
