Movie Talk: The Help Movie inTheaters August 10th {Giveaway}

Friday, July 29, 2011 Leave a Comment

Yesterday, I had a friend over and as we walked into my room, I turned to my nightstand and I said, "Do you like to read? Have you read The Help?" She left that night and says to me, "I know this sounds kind of dumb, but I'm really anxious to wake up tomorrow and start reading this book!"

If you guys remember, I was one of the FIRST people to see The Help Movie at the Disney Dreamworks Event back in June. While, my official review, has not been posted yet (look for it very soon), I will say this....... The Help Movie is a must see. Today, I'm bringing you guys a really fun giveaway to get you excited to see an Oscar-Worthy film debuting August 10th!

About The Help:
Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help” stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times. Deeply moving, filled with poignancy, humor and hope, “The Help” is a timeless and universal story about the ability to create change.

    I have read the book twice. I heard K. Stockett speak in April 2010 and I was captivated. I grew up in MS and lived during the time of the setting of this book. I believe that the author has nailed the characters, their conversations and their feelings. This was a very volatile time in the South and Stockett has definitely found her niche in the writing. I am very excited to be able to see the movie and really looking forward to a movie which will be as good as the book!!!

    I've read the book and I'm an extra in the movie!! (Look for me at Brent's Drug Store I'm the make-up counter lady :)) I had the privilege of of growing up in Jackson, Mississippi and hope to be a third generation JLJ (Junior League of Jackson) member. I hope after seeing some of the wonderful things Mississippi has to offer, people will take note of our beautiful state and be inspired by our rich heritage and wonderful people.

    Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the movie premier they held here in Jackson this past weekend (tickets were a bit $$). However, several people I know went and they said I made the movie!!

    I am extremely proud of both Kathryn Stockett and Tate Taylor, both Jackson natives, and I hope that the movie does justice to this wonderful book!
