Local Findings: American Idol Tour Stops in Houston

Did all of you guys like our L'Oreal Eversleek Giveaway we hosted a few weeks ago?! It was our July Beauty Pick of the Month and everyone wanted to get a piece of the newest products hitting stores by L'Oreal and their spokesperson, Jennifer Lopez. I tried it and absolutely LOVE the Eversleek products.

With that said, L'Oreal loved the fact that we featured their products so they asked us to attend the 2011 American Idol Concert Tour. It hit Houston a few weeks ago, and while I couldn't personally be there, I sent the next best thing.... my contributor Gloria Burke. She's been covering local events for me, here lately, and I imagine when Summer comes to an end you'll be seeing more and more from this woman of all trades (Seriously. The woman is talented in so many different areas.) So, check it out, she had a GREAT time at the concert and letting you in on how much she enjoyed it.

How many kids can say they went to a concert with their mom and they BOTH enjoyed the music? How many moms can say they went with their kids to a concert and say they both enjoyed it. Our family can! I remember when I was younger my mother and I went to watch NKOTB, for those of you who don’t know what that stands for…New Kids on The Block. My mom couldn’t wait until that concert was over. She was bored out of her mind. There was not one quiet pre-teen girl in the whole place. Not to mention she wasn’t a huge fan of the music.

Recently American Idol Live concert came to Houston, TX and we were fortunate to attend thanks to L’Oreal. All I can say is….AWESOME! As we walk into Reliant Arena; we are greeted at the door with a pamphlet for L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara and a sample. Who doesn’t love samples?

Picture this. Flashes on the big screen of past American Idol winners, vibrant lights, energetic crowd and the excitement of your favorite Idol singers just at arm’s reach. In true form almost anyone that went to this concert was surely entertained. They sang music that is at the top of the charts now and music that even my mom would have loved. It ranged from music of Rod Stewart and Journey all the way to Lady Gaga, JayZ and Trace Adkins. They kept the crowd's energy high and kept everybody moving.

I am a true music lover and I sang along to every song they sang. Of course the anticipation was leading up to the winner of American Idol "Scotty the Hottie". He ended the the last part of the show singing a song with that deep voice that everyone fell in love with.

My brother came with me to the concert and this was his first one ever to attend. I think they set the bar high for his expectations for any other concert that he will ever go to again. I truley enjoyed the experience and would love to go back when another concert comes to Houston. Make sure that if you have children, come armed with money if you think they will want souvenirs. Some of the shirts are a little pricey but there are books that are available for the more budgeted families.

Final Findings:

This concert was very geared to families. It felt very wholesome and you would not feel uncomfortable with the music they were singing. No cussing in the song choices and the outfits they wore were not revealing. I have to say 2 thumbs up.

Momma Findings Contributor: Gloria Burke is a Mom to four kids and a well-established photographer in the Houston area. While she specializes in professional photography, she is also a talented hair dresser, cook, and AMAZING Momma.
