If there's one thing I love about my iPhone, it's the ability to keep the kids happy with fun apps and games. Seriously. If we're at a restaurant, waiting at the pediatrician's office, or on a long drive, the iPhones and iPod Touch are lifesavers.

There are so many family friendly iPhone games to choose from and, just recently, I learned about a fun app called Cube Dog. Think cutest-dog-ever-that-does-amazing-tricks-and-you-don't-have-to-clean-up-poop kinda pet.Yeah. There is such a thing.

Cube Dog is a free app where you can create a customizable virtual dog from start to finish. Once you’ve created your dog, you’re ready to play! The app includes cool features like the ability to photograph your dog on-location using your iPhone camera. Plus, Cube Dogs can do everything from fetch a bone to play baseball!

What devices is Cube Dog compatible with?

I have an iPhone 4 and my Cube Dog works wonderfully with it, however, you guys might have something different. In fact, my daughter has a 3rd generation iPod Touch so the question in my mind was What devices is Cube Dog available on? Well, fret no more because it's available for:

• iPhone 3GS
• iPhone 4
• iPod Touch 3rd generation
• iPod Touch 4th generation

Momma Findings:

I installed the Cube Dog app and really had no idea what to expect. Would it be like Webkinz, where you play games to earn coins? Would it be like the old school giga pets? Oh, c'mon! You remember those, don't you? Or did I just age myself?

I was happy to see that Cube Dog is free to download and VERY easy to get started. It's totally personalized, meaning you can create you pet to look ANY way you like by choosing the eyes, ears, and even the color.... however, if you know me I'm horrible at making decisions.


I guess Cube Dog knows a lot of people like me, because if you shake your phone they'll create a dog JUST for you. So, that's what I did and I got the CUTEST little Cube Dog Puppy and named him Pinky. The really COOL feature I ABSOLUTELY love is that you can take pictures of your Cube Dog on location, then post it on Twitter and Facebook. Say you're headed to Paris for the Summer? Well, Cube Dog can be in the picture of the Eiffel Tower! Or in my case, in front of my computer screen:


Last, but certainly not least, my Cube Dog can work an iPhone like nobody's business! Seriously. He calls me. To say Hi. To tell me he misses me. Really. He does.


Momma Improvements:

As much as we LOVE our new Cube Dog app, I have issues with in-app purchases. I know. You can't get everything for free, but what gets me is, when younger children play games, where in app purchases are available, they have no idea that they are charging up their parent's credit card. In fact, my 4-yr-old did just that last week on a different app! Suggestion to parents: Walk your child through this app and talk about what is okay to play on the app and what they need your permission for. It's that easy.

Final Findings:

At the end of the day, it's my NEW favorite app! I may play with Pinky more than I do my real dog. I'm kidding.

But not really.
