Raising Girls: Trendy Spring Clothes From Tea Collection

Saturday, April 2, 2011 Leave a Comment

April is in full swing and so is the beautiful Spring weather here in Texas. Just this week, I was driving down a few country roads on the way to a blogger event and I was just gazing at the bluebonnets and wildflowers against the bright green grass. This is one of my FAVORITE times of the year, due to all the sunshine, scenery, and aura of the season.

I also love it because I can pack away all my winter clothes and boots and bring out all my Spring dresses, tops, and sandals. My 7-yr-old daughter is slowly learning the change of the season brings big changes in her closet as we reviewed the latest in trendy clothing for girls from Tea Collection. What did we think? How did my Texas girl like the trends and world inspired clothing from one of the most talked about girls clothing lines?

About Tea Collection:

Founded in 2002, Tea, based in San Francisco, designs distinctive apparel collections for children and women inspired by the beauty we discover in our travels around the world. From the art of traditional Korean patchwork to the graphic boldness of Brazilian street graffiti, Tea designers interpret their discoveries into beautiful, modern and consummately wearable children’s clothing for ages 0-12. We launched our women's collection in the Fall of 2010 in that same spirit. Chic, flattering globally-inspired styles to live and love in.

Momma Findings:

Thanks to the cool folks at Tea Collection, we were able to browse their Spring clothes for girls and picked our favorite to order. My daughter could NOT be swayed to order anything else except the Mariposa 4-Piece Set. In the set, was:

  • Mariposa Top
  • Racerbank Stripe Tank Top in Asparagus
  • Citron Flora Playdress
  • Paperbag Shorts

When the set arrived, I was, immediately, impressed with how meticulous it was packed. Not sure if you guys order a lot of clothes online, but when I do, I'd like for it to arrive in pristine condition, not wrinkled. Each clothing item arrived in individual wrapped cellophane bags. They were folded accordingly and were ready-to-wear. I also, REALLY liked their signature Tea tag. You'll find it on EVERY clothing item, not changing the way the clothing looks, but giving it that very special tag of personality.

The Mariposa set was perfect because my daughter could mix and match the items. She felt so confident in her new clothes and exclaimed, "Momma! They are so comfortable. I can run and jump without them being too tight."

The perfect thing about the mix and match clothing is that they all go together and can be easily interchanged. Here in Texas the weather is unpredictable. One day it's hot and sunny, the next it's a little chilly. After a few minutes of playing, my daughter thought it was so cool to be able to peel off a layer of her outfit to cool off, but it didn't effect her "look":

The icing on the cake was the floral ruffle sleeve dress. It's a perfect look when out shopping with Mom or even when we're off for a Mom/Daughter Mani and Pedi:

Momma Improvements:

We are in love with all the trendy, world inspired looks Tea has to offer for the entire family, however, we're also on a budget. I'm a Stay at Home Mom and dressing three children has to be thoroughly planned according to look AND cost. The price is a bit high for a family like mine. Suggestion: Tea Collection is perfect for vacation clothes or special event clothes, in my personal opinion.

Final Findings:

We took the Tea Collection through the ultimate test drive. We've spilled chocolate ice cream on it and it washed out with ease. The clothing also had very little piling or fading after multiple times in the washer and dryer. In the end? The quality is matchless. I feel my daughter can get an extensive amount of wear to these clothes and they'll hold up easily. So, although, I mention the cost is a bit much, it's very well worth the investment for clothing that lasts as well as these have. Not only that, but the whimsy character Tea Collection puts into their designs is exquisite and really helps girls embrace a unique personality among their friends.

Buy It:

Tea is available at www.teacollection.com, in specialty and department stores, including Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, and more than 300 high-end children’s boutiques in the U.S., Canada and Australia. The Mix and Match Mariposa set, we reviewed above, can be purchased for the suggested retail price of $96.00.
