One thing I've told my husband I'd REALLY like to have is a docking station for all our electronics. You know, a central place where I can plug in our iPhones, Nintendo DS, iPod Touch, and Laptops. I've always imagined it would help immensely in the organizational aura of our home, but will the future also include charging our car alongside all our gadgets?

Just a few weeks ago, Chevy Texan invited me, along with other Houston Area Bloggers, to the Houston Auto Show to take a look at all their new and upcoming vehicles, including their much anticipated Chevy Volt, the electronic car everyone is talking about. Would you buy one?


About the Chevy Volt:

Say hello to the Volt, Chevrolet's new electric vehicle that can use gas (but only if you need to). The Volt will take you wherever you need to go whether it's to the corner store or a long-distance road trip.

Performance Features:

• Just plug it in to charge the battery, and most people can commute gas-free and tailpipe emissions-free for about $1.50 of electricity per day.
• A small, quiet on-board gas generator creates electricity that powers your Volt as you drive for hundreds of miles on battery and gas power.
• Lithium-ion cells outperform nickel metal hydride cells (found in today's hybrids) in terms of life cycle
• A liquid thermal cooling and heating system keeps the battery at a comfortable temperature as it's being charged and discharged.
• Can be set to charge during off-peak hours for greater savings
• Your Volt will be fully charged in about 10 hours, depending on climate, with standard 120-volt line, or as little as 4 hours using a dedicated 240-volt line

Momma Findings:

It's got me wondering. Would I ever be able to make the "Electric Switch"? How many of you drive or would be willing to drive an electric vehicle? How would it charge exactly? I'd like to thank Chevy for inviting me along for such an amazing brunch and tour of their vehicles at the Houston Auto Show. Although, I've never owned a Chevy, that Volt is just so mind blowing, I might have to convince Hubby to take the plunge.

On the other hand, someone on Facebook told me, "Soccer Moms don't drive Camaros." I may have to prove them wrong.
