Sprint Overdrive: Wi-Fi On-the-Go with 4G Coverage

Thursday, April 29, 2010 0 comments

We're constantly connected through platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, but what happens when you're On-the-Go? If you're like me, you simply "connect" with your cell phone, however, why stop there? Companies across the country are now providing Wi-Fi devices that help you connect to their 3G networks. Verizon has their Mi-Fi and built in Hotspot on their Palm Pre Plus, but Sprint is leading the charge by launching 4G coverage (in select cities) with their NEW Overdrive device.

I had the opportunity to sit down over some crawfish bisque and discuss this product with a couple of Sprint Representatives and when it was all said and done, I drove home completely "connected."

Have You Given Up On The Things You Love?

Wednesday, April 28, 2010 4 comments

Last night I tried to "mellow" out. Lately, I've been a little high strung, stressed, and, for lack of words, spastic. I've been doing things I don't usually do. Some make me happy.. others make me think How in the world am I functioning?

My 6-year-old daughter burst out into laughter the other night and I had no idea why. When I looked her way she says, "Mom. Did you really just do that?" A little on the agitated side, I told her, "What Sweetie. WHAT did I just do?" Her sweet brown eyes turned to puzzled as she said, "Mom, you just put my hairbrush and the detangler spray in the fridge."

Mom. Fail.

Snack Idea: NEW Simply... Go-Gurt

Tuesday, April 27, 2010 66 comments

Kids love snacking. In fact, my toddler can sometimes get carried away with the snacks and when it's meal time, I feel like the worst mother ever for giving in to his snack requests all day. So, what do we do as Moms when they're begging for cookies, chips, and soda?

Well, I'm fortunate to have children who LIKE cookies and junkfood, but they prefer healthy stuff like fruit, carrot sticks, and yogurt. Now, when I say yogurt, I mean every kind and every flavor. No matter the consistency they'll grab a big bowl, the ready-to-eat cups, yogurt tubes or give me the puppy dog eyes to make them yogurt fruit smoothies. Well, thanks to Yoplait, we've got another favorite to add to that list: Simply... GoGurt.

Music Monday: Take It All

Monday, April 26, 2010 0 comments

It's here! It's here! I love me some Music and get a little giddy on Mondays when I get to share with you songs that inspired me throughout last week, during Worship service on Sunday, when I was driving in my car with the windows down, or... in this case, when I hear them come out of the sweet mouths of my children.

Last night, I let my children stay up later than usual for a school night. Why you ask? Well, sometimes, just sometimes, I can be a pushover. That and we were just quietly getting along together and that rarely happens after our Sunday Morning chaos.

Rainy Day Fun: Play a Game of I Spy

Friday, April 23, 2010 0 comments

It's another day of rain here in South East Texas. The month of April is usually a doozie, but we're making do by having fun inside! This Momma's on a mission: To make every rainy day, a fun day indoors with my children.

Do you ever lie in the grass with your children and find cloud shaped animals? We used to have a trampoline and we'd all lay there pointing out Elephants, Tigers, and Monkeys. Then we'd end up talking about the different trees, flying birds, and airplanes as they catch our eye. It's our own little game of I Spy. During rainy days, there is a great way to bring THAT game inside with Briarpatch's I Spy Memory Game.

Because I Don't Ask For Much, Can I Get Your Vote?

So, there's this Calendar. It's kinda.. umm... well hot. I'm not talking the hottest babes in swimsuits or firefighters half naked. I'm talking the hottest of hot. I'm talking some of the most influential people in this land we call "The Blogosphere".

Yes, Yes. I said it. Talent, wit, and the fact that we can type 300 words a minute, puts bloggers into a whole other level of hotness. I mean, everyone loves Geeks. Geeks are hot! Am I the only one? All kidding aside, Social Media has it's own realm of celebrities and the Hot Blogger Calendar is rolling them all into a one-stop-shop of goodness.

Your Child Forgot Her Homework, Do You Come to the Rescue?

Tuesday, April 20, 2010 2 comments

I was talking to a friend of mine this morning and she says, "Oh No! My daughter forgot her homework in the car. Should I take it to her?" Interesting. Before I answered her, thoughts raced through my mind of myself running, with my cape flowing behind me, to rescue my sweet child and save the day by bringing her homework to her classroom. In my little Momma brain, I, somehow, think this will make it all better. I can prove to her teacher that, although accidents happen, we are a responsible family and my daughter WILL be prepared for class no matter what.

But what kind of message am I sending? What am I teaching my daughter in the long run?

Rainy Day Fun: The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge

Monday, April 19, 2010 0 comments

April has definitely been full of rain here in SouthEast Texas. If you've ever lived in the Houston area, you know that rain showers come out of nowhere. You can be drenched in rain one second and the next? The Sun is shining bright calling your kids out to enjoy the humidity.

What does a Momma do to keep them busy during one of the rainiest months of the year? Well, I've got a few ideas cookin' in my head, but one never fails to keep my children happy and busy and that's reading as a family. We have an extensive library ranging from Joke books to books about Science and others that teach us about Autism.

Music Monday: Until the Whole World Hears

I was thinking to myself this morning There isn't one particular day I love to blog more than I do on Monday. I love me some music in almost any genre, but Contemporary Christian Music really lifts my heart and gets me through the day to day struggles of being a Stay-at-Home Mom. So, it's always a bright spot of mine to sit, after the my older kids are off to school and while my toddler sleeps, to meditate on a particular song and let you guys in on how it's speaking to me.

This Music Monday I'm getting a little loud.

Outsmart Temptation with NEW Yoplait Light Yogurt

Friday, April 16, 2010 106 comments

Now that Spring is here, I've been getting back into my running routine. I tell people all the time, I don't DO cold. If it's cold you'll never catch me running outside, but when the sun is out I'm all about hitting the running trails at my local park.

With my exercise routine in full gear, I usually start craving carbs and LOTS of them, especially sweets. I go for things like cake, cookies, and pie.. oh and the occasional pizza slice. How in the world does a Momma of three resist the temptation without feeling like I'm missing out? How can I show my children and husband that we can BE healthy, but still eat great tasting snacks? Well, Yoplait Light and Yoplait Light Thick and Creamy can help. Now there are two new ways to outsmart temptations with Red Velvet Cake and Blueberry Pie, two new yogurt flavors that made their recent debut in your dairy aisle.

15 REAL Things Your Pharmacist Would Never Tell You

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 2 comments

I was reading an article posted in the Healthy Living Section of Shine from Yahoo. It points out 13 things your Pharmacist won't tell you.

It just so happens that a good friend of mine, who happens to BE a Pharmacist, says he tells his customers these things all the time. He WISHES he could tell them OTHER things, but it's just not professional. So, he did the next best thing.... wrote them down and forwarded them to me to blog them. Don't you just love the Blogosphere?

Movie Talk: The Madeline Movie Lost in Paris - Hits Stores Today!

Tuesday, April 13, 2010 0 comments

I love curling up with a good book. Even as a child, I would snuggle up in my fleece-like blanket (us Mexican folk call them Colchas) and simply read till my eyes gave out. Still as an adult, I delight in a good book, but I also love seeing my kids read my childhood favorites such as the Madeline Series.

Books are easily brought to life in movies that we can share with, even the youngest in the family. Do you guys remember how excited I was when we reviewed the Curious George 2 movie? Yeah, this is like that. Kids excited. Momma REALLY excited. The Madeline Movie: Lost in Paris hit stores today and I've got the scoop for ya!

An Open Letter to the Tooth Fairy

Dear Tooth Fairy,

When my child loses a tooth and, so carefully, places it under his or her pillow, please take the time to visit our house and leave a little... you know.. cash. I mean, you do it for other children and now my son is feeling a little left out.

He thinks you didn't leave any money because his mean parents made him put it in a ziploc bag. Foolishly, we didn't realize you can't open a ziploc bag. How hard is it, anyway? Simply pull the top apart! Well, Momma was deemed the bad guy since I couldn't find our tooth pillow. Apparently, I'm going to have to head to Etsy and find a crafter to make us another one. Such a shame being that all of our teeth fit so snuggly in that little pocket.

Music Monday: Something Beautiful

Monday, April 12, 2010 3 comments

It's 7:00am. My alarm goes off. Tired and half way awake, I waddle to the coffee pot, turn it on, and sleepily get in the shower.

Sunday is my favorite day of the week and as each child wakes up I remind them we'd be visiting a new church today. You see, we've moved back to Texas, but still don't have a church home. You might be thinking Man! This woman is always visiting churches! Well, we've moved countless times since I started this blog and yes, we've visited a LOT of churches, but today I'm a little emotional about it. I've prayed and prayed about where God will place my family.

As I do every Sunday morning, I turn on my radio and what song do I hear? "Something Beautiful"

Friday, April 9, 2010 167 comments

Spring is here and we are enjoying every ray of sunshine that beams down on our face. The backyard is mowed, the outdoor toys are dusted off, and we're stocked up on bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and iced tea. It's one of my favorite times of the year, where I eat lunch outside with my toddler and we gaze at the birds in the trees.

With the warm weather, comes lots of time outdoors with friends. Whether you want to host a playdate or attend one, Kmart and Fisher Price have some great tips to make the best of those outdoor events with playdate tips and recommended toys.

Review: Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers

Flu season is slowly passing us by, but Spring allergies and colds are in full swing in my little town. The pollen is flying at it's highest and, as a Momma, it's hard for me to distinguish between seasonal allergies and a cold or infection. So, keeping on the safe side, I'm still having my kids wash their hands frequently.

You guys remember when my entire little family got the H1N1 Flu virus, right? I remember being so achy, but still having to take care of my three children who were JUST as achy. Fever. Vomiting. Meds. It was something I don't EVER want to go through again. After we got better, I was the "Hand Washing Nazi". Now that the memories of being so sick have disappeared, I noticed my children aren't washing their hands like they used to. I need some kind of tactic to remind them just how long to wash their hands and make them WANT to do it. In comes Musical Hand Wash Timers.

Local Findings: Houston Children's Festival 2010

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 0 comments

Spring is here and the warm breeze is filling our backyards. If you can forget about your allergies for a few hours, you might enjoy what Houston has to offer families this weekend. I planned a getaway with the kids to either The Aquarium Downtown or Discovery Green, but then I realized that the Houston Children's Festival is this weekend! How could I not know?

We lived in Memphis the last few years so we've never been to this festival, but I hear that there are lots of fun stuff planned and you MIGHT even get to meet Stella from Disney's Jonas. Shhhh! Don't tell my daughter because she MIGHT just go crazy.

Rainy Day Fun: KidsCraft Playhouse Review

Tuesday, April 6, 2010 121 comments

April Showers bring May Flowers, but, unfortunately, it also brings on my children's boredom. Throughout the month of April, I'll be shedding light on some fun activities, crafts, toys, and books to get you through those Spring Showers, so let the fun begin!

It shouldn't surprise me, but, each and every time my child ends up playing with an empty box the thought crosses my that I should have just given them the box instead of the toy. I'm sure it's not just me, but boxes definitely bring out my children's imagination as they pretend to be a Robot or create a cardboard playhouse all their own.

Music Monday: There Is a Way (No, I won't be Politically Correct on Easter)

Monday, April 5, 2010 2 comments

I've had a whirlwind of a weekend! Yeah, it started on Thursday as I celebrated my 29th Birthday (Yes, I am an April Fools Baby) and with the Easter Weekend ahead of us, well.... I was busy. Did you notice I haven't blogged at ALL this month?

So, as Easter approached I was getting ready with Easter candy, baskets, and preparations, but on Easter Morning, I was a little sad. You see.. the Holiday that I love and the Holiday that makes me who I am, defines my being in this world... well, made me sad.
