Verizon Palm Pre Plus: I'm Wrapping It Up

Wednesday, March 31, 2010 0 comments

It's been a month since I let you guys in on my technological jump. I switched from the BlackBerry Storm to the NEW Verizon Palm Pre Plus and took all of you along my little journey. Did it reach my expectations? Were the Apps up to par? Could I multi-task my life as a Mom?

Well, the report is in and, without any hesitation, I'd say the Palm Pre Plus has found a place in our little family due to it's many functions: Photo, Video, Easy Synchronizing, WebOS, Apps, Calendars, Task Lists, oh and did you know you can use it to CALL people too? Out of the seven previous posts I wrote, I left that little tidbit out.

Verizon Palm Pre Plus: Let's Talk Apps

Monday, March 29, 2010 0 comments

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that Apps are of utmost importance when it comes to your cell phone. If not, then skip right along to another article, however, personal experience leads me to think otherwise.

Apps for your phone let you do so much more than text and call your loved ones. You can communicate through Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking tools... or Apps, mind you. So, the day I received my Verizon Palm Pre Plus, it's not a surprise I went straight to the App Catalog to see what it has to offer in forms of small icons with big communication power. What did I find?

Music Monday: Our God is Greater

I was driving down the road with a friend of mine. Okay, one of my best friends EVER. He has almost the exact same music on his iPhone as I do on my iPod. It doesn't surprise me because I only pick the most amazing people to be friends with, but as we were driving the other night he turns to me and says, "Have you downloaded that new Chris Tomlin Song?!"

Well, I knew exactly what song he was talking about, but had not yet downloaded it. He beat me. So, he plays it for me and as we sang together he mutters words that, to most, might sound silly, but to me.. they made perfect sense.

Review: Bella Tunno's Oopsie Ditty Wristlet

Sunday, March 28, 2010 0 comments

Every so often, there comes a product that I fall in love with. In fact, there hasn't been a product that I was head over heels over this bad, since I discovered Boogie Wipes a few years ago. Products that make my life easier, as a Mom, are always on my list of top "Must-Haves", but when you throw in style alongside the parenthood juggling act, well... let's just say it turns into a product I can't stop talking about.

In comes Bella Tunno, a baby and children's accessory company dedicated to the balance of fashion, function, and philanthropic good. Available in more than 4,000 boutiques nationwide, you can find unique items such as: Ribbon Binkers, Head Bands, Solution Sacks, Designer Diners, and, my favorite the Oopsie Ditty Solution Sack!

Verizon Palm Pre Plus: Easy Video On-the-Go

Friday, March 26, 2010 0 comments

Do you remember me talking about how I juggle various gadgets JUST to get that perfect picture or video? Different activities and outings call for different devices. In fact, the situation sometimes calls for a different camera due to the lack of free hands I have. I don't care what my children tell you, I don't HAVE more than two hands and I CAN'T be in two places at once.

I might have eyes in the back of my head though, but don't all Moms? Don't ALL Moms move their "alien like" eyes to the backs of their heads while driving down the road? It's our defense mechanism to fight off the "He's touching me!" moments or to move in "Ninja Like" fashion to catch the sippy cup toddler-boy throws to the front seat.

Gear Up for Wrestlemania with WWE Force Flex Action Figures by Mattel

Earlier this week, I told you how I love my daughter for being so girly. I like girly girls. I like how sweet they are in pink and how easy it is to relate to them, but then you have the exact opposite of the spectrum. The boys. The all around rough and tumble, car playin', wrestling, sports fanatic boys. They gag at the thought of dress-up and you might even catch them burying their sister's Barbie Doll in the backyard. What? Is that just my child?

All kidding aside, although I love the girl I have, my son helps me embrace the exciting and thrill rush of life. There isn't an instant where I don't find him wrestling on the living room floor with Daddy or his brother, or Heaven forbid, his sister! He's a boy. So, when Mattel asked me to check out their newest line of WWE ForceFlex Action figures, I did not hesitate.

Verizon Palm Pre Plus: Picture Perfect Moments

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 0 comments

If I was filling out a my resume, I'd include so many titles for myself: Mom, Editor, Website Manager, Cook, Driver, Boo-Boo Kisser, Alarm Clock, Social Media Enthusiast, Brand Adovacate, Family Historian, Twit-Picker, and the list goes on and on. Alright, not many companies would be really interested in the fact that I can rock a baby to sleep like nobody's business or that I love taking pictures of every single moment of our lives, nevertheless, there it is.

I'm a photographer of life. I didn't say I was good at it. I didn't say my pictures ALWAYS turn out perfect, but what I am saying is that there is a frozen moment in life captured with every shutter of the camera. But what if, for some reason, pigs actually fly and I forget my camera at home? What then? How will the pictures turn out if I use my cell phone? *gasp*

Review: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun With Oobees

Tuesday, March 23, 2010 1 comments

My very first slumber party definitely marks the day I became obessessed with everything girly. I was a bit of a tomboy when I was a little girl, short hair and never in a dress, but the day I saw my friend Mandy waltz in with her pink Barbie overnight bag, my personality changed from all things baseball to all things pink, girly, and frilly.

Having a daughter of my own, I love the fact that my daughter is all girl. If it's pink, she wants it. If it'll make her look cute, she wants it. It's not all about looking good, but having fun and being comfortable with your personality and who you are inside. I can't wait for her to go to her very first, official, slumber party because we have discovered the cutest overnight bag and slippers for just the occasion.

Is Our Connection Ultimately Disconnecting Us from Society?

If you've been around Momma Findings, you've probably discovered I'm your ultimate social media enthusiast. There is an instant connection you receive through real time sources, a source you can never receive without platforms such as Twitter or Facebook. At the forefront of a new movement, I, personally, feel this new wave of instant connection will reach further than we can possibly imagine.

With that said, more instances are appearing where I feel disconnected from those closest to me. Have they not yet picked up on this "new movement"? Why aren't we both driving down this new "information highway"?

Music Monday: Edge of Desire

Monday, March 22, 2010 0 comments

You probably read that title and thought What?! Sara talking about desire? Hot stuff! Most of my Music Monday's are songs that encourage me, mostly Contemporary Christian music. But today? I'm in this John Mayer kind of mood.

Spring Break has come to an end, which mean the chaos has walked out of my house, onto the bus, and into their Elementary School. I'm left with a quiet relaxing house this morning (until toddler boy wakes up). Steam is floating up from my coffee cup, there is a chill on my shoulders from this frosty morning, and I'm left with the sound of my fingers typing and the sound of music from my iPod.

Dentyne Gum Pairs Up with Artist Anthony Yankovic

Friday, March 19, 2010 0 comments

I JUST had a conversation with my 7-year-old son that went a little something like this:

Mom: When I was a kid, my favorite thing to pick out at the store was Gum Balls. I'd get the Rainblo tubes with different colors.

Son: I've NEVER seen you chew big gum like that. Ever.

Mom: Well, no it hurts my teeth now, but anytime my Grandpa gave me money I'd pick those out. What's your favorite thing to pick in the candy aisle?

Son: My mood changes, my favorite is Peppermint, like candy canes.

Verizon Palm Pre Plus: My Multi-Tasking Momma Brain

Thursday, March 18, 2010 2 comments

I have been thoroughly enjoying my Verizon Palm Pre Plus this month and took it to the ultimate test during our recent Spring Break Trip. We drove from Houston to San Antonio with only one thing on our mind: SeaWorld.

I'm the epitome of a multi-tasker, meaning my brain, literally, runs on structure. In my Momma head, I have everything planned from the time I wake up, to the things I'll do before we get in the car, to what time we'll eat. I know, call me OCD, but if you could take a picture of my brain it would literally look like a list with check marks dictating success or failure. Or a little something like:

Handy Manny's Big Race Premieres Sat. 3/20 on Disney

We just arrived home from our trip to SeaWorld and boy was it fun! My whole family was there with us: My parents, My Sister, & Brother, Niece & Nephew, My Children & Husband, and Handy Manny. Yes, I said it. Handy Manny was not to be left out as he traveled with us to San Antonio to visit Shamu and the SeaWorld gang.

We were all sad to be leaving Shamu behind, however, looking forward to relaxing at home to round out our Spring Break vacation. When I say relaxing, it usually involves me walking around barefoot in the backyard with an ice cold drink or snuggling on the couch with a movie. We usually pop in our favorites, but this Saturday, is the premiere of Handy Manny's Big Race and we'll be tuning in. I mean, how could I forget? My toddler only reminds me 20 times every day!

SeaWorld Trip: What's In My Bag?

Sunday, March 14, 2010 2 comments

SeaWorld. It's time. I'm organizing and packing as we speak and the family is still snoozing, probably because they think it's only 7:30, when in all actuality it's 8:30. So, as I await the dryer to finish, I want to play a little game, well it's not really game as much as it is a post. I kind of want to know what you guys pack on trips that you can't live without.

Verizon Palm Pre Plus: A New Age Alarm Clock

Today, we leave for SeaWorld San Antonio to kick off our Spring Break. It's kind of a big deal to us, because we've never been on a family vacation together. *GASP* I know, have we committed the worst possible parenting sin? I don't think so. You see, we used to live 600+ miles away from family. Every time we had vacation we used it coming here. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Texas and I love me some family, but sometimes going off on an adventure can be just the thing you need.

As any Mom might tell you, leaving for a trip can be a little exhausting, just in preparation. I have been busy cleaning the house, doing laundry, shopping, packing three children, one husband, and myself.

Movie Talk: Curious George- Follow That Monkey DVD

Friday, March 12, 2010 89 comments

I live with monkeys. Three little monkeys run around my house, laughing, jumping, and getting into all the trouble their curious little minds can take. Bringing worms in the house, throwing gardening tools on the roof, and even burying Barbie in the ground are just a few instances where I had to, merely.... well... laugh.

My children are learning about the world around them, unfortunately, gravity is still a concept that baffles them and each time they fall, I'm there to pick them up, smile, and kiss the hurt away. When they wrangle all the neighborhood kids and march into my house with laughter, I sometimes think I should start charging people to enter this zoo. When it's all said and done and all they want to do is relax, we pull out a movie from our media library, also known as the shelf in our coat closet. Our newest movie edition involves a curious monkey, a cross-country adventure, and the importance of family and friends.

Movie Talk: Disney's Princess And The Frog Movie

Thursday, March 11, 2010 219 comments

My daughter and I have been in much anticipation about meeting Disney’s newest princess, Tiana, from the Princess And The Frog. She joins ranks with Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Pocahontas, Jasmine and Mulan. The Princess and the Frog is Disney’s first princess film since Mulan, which was released in June 1998.

After missing the debut in theaters, my 6-year-old daughter has been counting down the days we could pick up the movie in stores. Well THAT day is arriving. On March 16th, the newest Princess will be introduced to homes everywhere on the Princess and The Frog BluRay & DVD.

Verizon Palm Pre Plus: Can You Judge a Book by Its Cover?

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 0 comments

I've been crazy impressed with my new Verizon Palm Pre Plus. The Manager at my local Verizon store, made sure to tell me there is about a 2 week learning curve, but it's only taken me about three days to get used to the features and gestures on this phone.

Today, I want to let you guys in on my very, VERY, first impression of the Palm Pre Plus. You know that saying You can't judge a book by it's cover? I catch myself telling my children that every time they scoff at the new recipe I tried or when they hesitate to play with the new kid in class. As a Mom, I make sure my children realize that your eyes can be deceiving and what you see on the outside, might not necessarily be what's on the inside. I had to keep that in mind when I first laid my eyes on Verizon's Palm Pre Plus.

Video Game Review: SpongeBob's Boating Bash for Nintendo Wii

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 260 comments

My family loves spending time together, especially playing our Nintendo Wii. Although, we continuously vote Wii Bowling as our favorite past time, we are constantly looking for new Family Friendly games to shake it up a bit. There's only so many times I can take getting beat by a 7-year-old, before it starts affecting my self confidence.

It's all about competition, friendly of course. So, when we were asked to check out THQ's newest Wii Game SpongeBob's Boating Bash, I knew the kids and I would be up to the challenge.

For You Miranda, Music Monday: Safe

Monday, March 8, 2010 1 comments

My heart, is literally, aching as tears flow down my face. It actually sounds crazy, but it aches for a dear friend of mine on the other side of the country. There is a bond I feel with this woman, whom I got the privilege to room with in Chicago last year. Miranda, from Keeper of the Cheerios, inspires me every day in the world that is the blogosphere and today.... today? She's hurting and my heart breaks right along with her. Her father has been in the hospital for the last week or so and his pneumonia is the worst anyone could have. Doctor's told her family he has a 50/50 chance of surviving this.

Jaw dropping. Tears flowing.

So, as I sat to write Music Monday, I set the laptop to the side and just prayed.

Oh Yes, I'm a Verizon Palm Pre Plus Mommy Blogger!

Saturday, March 6, 2010 2 comments

I, distinctly, remember making fun of my Husband and his three friends, as I sat in my living room about two years ago. They all had their phones out, tapping away, almost as if the world depended on every text message their little fingers were sending out that very moment. It's a pity.

It's a pity because, I am now one of those schmucks who can not live without my cell phone. Why? Because my life is in it! It, literally, runs on my Email, my Twitter feed, my Facebook updates, my Albums, Calendar, Contacts, and even in the Alarm Clock. So, what would one busy Mom do, if she was asked to trade her lifeline, aka: Blackberry, for a Smartphone that was made to multi-task?

Well, I am that Mom and I'm thrilled to have been chosen as one of Verizon's Palm Pre Plus Mommy Bloggers!

Moms, Find Your Inner Beauty at DisneyFamily.com

Friday, March 5, 2010 114 comments

I looked down at my feet and my jaw dropped. How could I go THIS long without a pedicure? How could I go THIS long without painting my toenails? In fact, how DID I go this long without even putting lotion on those sweet heels of mine? Oh. Righhhhht. Kids.

It's really quite crazy, because I still remember, as a teenager, I had a very strict beauty regimen. There wasn't a night I "forgot" to wash off my make-up. There wasn't a day I found myself in public with ashy knees and elbows. These days, I find myself, a young mother with three children, slowly losing myself every day, slowly losing the little things I usually did to help me feel beautiful. What's even more upsetting is most Moms I talk to, completely agree. There isn't enough hours (or energy) in the day to indulge and where would we turn for beauty advice that fits the lifestyle of a Mom?

Fundraising Made Easy with Bisquick Pancake Nation

Thursday, March 4, 2010 206 comments

There's no hiding the love I have for breakfast foods. Eggs, Bacon, Biscuits, and Pancakes? You name it, I love it, but if you mix it in with helping local organizations and fundraising, well you've just just made my heart sing. One particular organization that's near and dear to my heart is Special Olympics. My younger brother has struggled, with an undiagnosed syndrome. Doctors believe it's Fragile X Syndrome, but we, as a family, could never let him endure the rigorous testing just to give it a name.

We didn't live a normal life. There were lots of Doctor visits, lots of special schools, lots of questions, but in the end? We had Faith it would be okay. Now he reminds us, daily, how independent he can be and I think, it's due, in large part, to the Special Olympics organization. So, when I received information regarding the new Bisquick Pancake Nation, the wheels started turning at how we can raise money for all the kids in my local area in Special Olympics and Special Education.

Review: Spring Break Traveling with Infectiguard

Wednesday, March 3, 2010 0 comments

My daughter woke up this morning, rubbed her sleepy eyes, brushed her hair out of her face, and stumbled into the kitchen. We display our School Menu Calendar on the fridge, so I wasn't at all surprised she was checking it out to see what she was going to eat today. She looks closer, looks at me, looks closer, and says, "Mom, how many more days 'till Spring Break?"

That's right, Spring Break is just over a week away and my family is counting down the days. My husband has taken vacation, my sister is out of work, and we're all heading to Sea World San Antonio. The Killer Whale incident in Florida is not at all affecting our decision. In fact, we're confident Sea World is till family friendly and safe as ever. If there is one thing we're worried about, it's the germs we'll encounter and how often we'll have to sanitize hands.

Review: Safety 1st Complete Air Convertible Car Seat

Tuesday, March 2, 2010 1 comments

My eyes shuttered and goosebumps ran down my back as we passed a car who had slammed into the guardrail on the freeway. That night we were driving to meet friends for dinner with our 4-month-old and, for some reason, an uneasiness came across me. I placed my hand on my husband's shoulder and quietly muttered, "Be careful, Hun. The roads are slick." Then I, silently, thanked God that my husband was driving because I don't drive well in bad weather. My palms get sweaty, my heart starts racing, and a fear comes over me.

Not 5 minutes later my husband was slamming on the breaks and our car was turning circles on the freeway. We landed near the guardrail, but, thank God, we didn't hit anyone or anything. My Momma instinct kicked in as soon as the car came to a stop and I turned to look at my sweet baby in the backseat. Worried he was hurt, I started giggling in tears when I saw his eyes were still shut and he was quietly sleeping.... through it all.

Seven years later, I still go back to that night in my head. I've been there. I've experienced the fear of a potential car accident and with my precious children in tow? I'm never too careful. So, when I discovered Safety 1st's Complete Air Convertible Car Seat, I knew I HAD to try it.

Music Monday: Hold Us Together

Monday, March 1, 2010 0 comments

Am I late on this Music Monday or what? It's already 2:30 in the afternoon and this thought went through my head on the way home from having lunch with my sister:

"Wow. Matt Maher, you've really encouraged me with this song.
Love CAN hold us together!
Note to self: This is a great Music Monday song to highlight. ....
Wait. What's today?
DOH! It's MONDAY!
I totally missed the boat this week!
"

So, as I come down from the high of jamming out in the car and having lunch with one of the most important people in my life, I will let you guys in on exactly what song I was listening to.
