Pray for the Momma Findings Family

Wednesday, January 27, 2010 19 comments

I, regretfully, say that yesterday was probably one of the worst days of my adult life.

My Grandfather passed and I didn't get to say good-bye. As I prayed, I went through all the range of feelings: Sadness, Shock, Fear, and Anger

When he finally passed I felt a sense of Peace and Calmness, almost happiness that he was no longer in Pain and dancing in the Streets of Heaven.

Music Monday: Smile

Monday, January 25, 2010 1 comments

I've been kinda serious lately on Music Monday. My soul can kinda get deep, you know? But today? Today I'm seriously all about Smiling. I've had an exhausting and emotional weekend, so I've got to do something and listen to something that will simply make me Smile.

- Running
- Family
- Friends
- My Husband
- Dancing
- Hugging my children
- Writing

All things that make me smile. What makes you grin from cheek to cheek?

What Do Your Children Call Their Grandparents?

Friday, January 22, 2010 10 comments

There is something downright sweet about children and their relationship with their Grandparents. People keep telling me that Grandchildren are the reward AFTER you've raised and released YOUR children, so I count down the days and pray for my future Grandchildren every day. I think about what they will look like, how many I will have, how I'll spoil them rotten, feed them lots of candy, then send them home to their parents. Hey! Don't judge! I get sweet infested children back every Saturday, so yes.... I plan to keep a "snack box" for them that could put a lion in a sugar induced coma. (Just kidding... kind of).

But as I think about how much I already love them, I also wonder What will they call me when I'm a Grandmother?

Corner Bakery's 100 Under 600 Menu

Wednesday, January 20, 2010 77 comments

With the Holidays long gone, you might have made the commitment to eat healthier. I, personally, have indulged since Thanksgiving, so January is a month of watching my portions, running 3 times a week, drinking more water (that's a hard one for me), and including my children in the fitness routine. We, as parents, lead as example and I need them to see Momma is doing her part to keep our family healthy.

What foods do you like to eat when you're dieting or trying to eat healthy? I have a few: Bananas with Peanut Butter, Almonds & String Cheese, & Healthy Choice Entrees. With those favorites in mind, I sometimes feel like I'm missing out. Lucky for me Corner Bakery has debuted their 100 Under 600 Menu!

Revamp Your Beauty Routine with Np2 Nail Polish- Review

Tuesday, January 19, 2010 1 comments

Being a Stay-at-Home Momma to three children ages 7 and under is a task all it's own. I find it incredibly rewarding, however, realized how my beauty routine has gone out the window since having kids.

I rarely go a day without putting on make-up. It makes me feel good about myself even IF my day is full of laundry, dishes, and Play-Doh. The other day, I looked down at my legs and thought to myself, I can't remember the last time I put on lotion or had a pedicure. My beauty routine is slowly leaving me and I've GOT to stop it. Nail salons aren't the most kid-friendly places. So, imagine my intrigue when I discovered Np2 Beauty.

Music Monday: Let the Waters Rise

Keep your head above water, Sara. Breath.

The other day I told my husband I was fed up with being broke. Harsh I know, however, I didn't aim it at him. I was releasing my aggravation and frustration at us, as a family. Why is it that we can't keep our heads above water?

It's a funny thing because as soon as I feel like the deep end is pulling me under and the fear is setting in, I'm effortlessly lifted and put on dry ground until we willingly jump into the raging waters, yet again. Have you ever felt that way?

This week, we're talking defining moments. As a Wife, Mom, and Blogger you can have multiple moments that define who you are. Can it come through tragedy? Through Age? Through relationships? What about through betrayal?

This was taped last weekend after the TX Vs. Alabama BCS Game

Reflections:

- What has been YOUR defining moment in life?
- How did you change?
- What did you learn about yourself?

Meal Ideas: Progresso High Fiber Soup Review

With the cold months still in full force, my family and I have been all about the soups. My children have become big Tomato Soup lovers, sprinkle some cheese on top, add a Grilled Cheese Sandwich or Goldfish and they are good to go. As a Mom, I'm always looking at the nutritional benefits of our food intake. For me, I need rich, hearty soups to fill our tummies, but fiber is important too.

Thanks to MyBlogSpark, I have been introduced to a few soups that are high in fiber with no added MSG, AND great taste. What's YOUR favorite soup?

Groundbreaking News in Baby Formula Case

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 2 comments

I'm a Momma to three beautiful children, children whom I formula fed. Although studies show breastfeeding is best, I just couldn't do it. Call it lack of support. Call it lack of energy. Call it frustration, however, when my newborn wouldn't latch on, Formula deemed the best method for our family. So I used it with my next two babies.

When you've made the decision to formula feed, most Mothers will agree it can be confusing to decide on a brand and type of formula. You're overwhelmed with guilt for not being able to breastfeed and now commercials and companies are telling you that only National Name Brand formulas provide the essential nutrients that your sweet newborn needs.

Do you believe them and how does your budget feel about it?

Celebrate Valentine's Day with Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You

Tuesday, January 12, 2010 3 comments

I love Valentine's Day, no pun intended.

Seriously, I'm the type of Momma who goes WAY overboard to show my children and husband I love them. I buy the cheesy place mats, hang up stringed hearts, bake heart-shaped pancakes in the morning, and place a sweet gift bag in the chair of each child to find when it's time to eat. What can I say? I'm a sucker for love, conversation hearts, and sweet movies with the kids.

Speaking of Sweet Movies, on January 5th of this year, a timeless Valentine's Day Classic was released by Disney. Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You is better than ever with it's Special Edition.

Music Monday: Hold My Heart

Monday, January 11, 2010 1 comments

A huge knot engulfed my throat as I fought back tears when a dear friend of mine came to me with her marital struggle. As I listened to each "instance" or each "argument", goosebumps ran down my arms... then my back... then I couldn't feel my body as the flashbacks of my own marital struggle came back from just years ago.

"It's not supposed to be like this," she muttered out between sobs and heavy breathing.

You're right. It's not.

Surviving Cold Weather and Frozen Pipes

Saturday, January 9, 2010 5 comments

Folks.

Don't be a Patsy.. ... uh.. er.. I mean a Sara.

Don't be a Sara and ignore the cold weather advice from the news. This morning, my husband and I, woke to no water. I went to wash my sleepy eyes away in the bathroom and found nothing coming out of my faucet. I ran to the kitchen. Nada. Ran to the other bathroom. Nope.

No water and a big fat mess to fix before the kids came home from their Grandparents house. I don't understand, we never had to prepare for cold weather like this in Memphis. This is the Gulf Coast of Texas where cold air shouldn't affect us as it has.

If you've got cold weather coming your way or you're in the middle of it, here are a few tips on how to deal with the the frost and hard freeze warnings.

Meal Ideas: Simple Breakfast with General Mills

Friday, January 8, 2010 0 comments

If my kids have a late breakfast, they are grouchy, tired, and did I say grouchy? So, it's no surprise that, a 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, kids who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, and have fewer reported discipline problems.

Another study of 16,000 adults revealed those who skipped breakfast tended to weigh more than those who ate breakfast.

Do you think that's true? Could a simple bowl of Cheerios, or any cereal, before heading out the door have that much added nutrition?
