Video Game Review: PETZ Nursery 2 Nintendo DS Game {Win It!}

I will say this, though... He's family. All our hard work is paying off as he learns just how to act in our home. It will pay off as he matures. My daughter told me the other day, "Mom, taking care of a real dog is nothing like taking care of my dog on PETZ Nursery." No, honey, it's WAY different. I tell you that story because, when my daughter is done with her chores, she sits on her bed, and takes care of MORE pets in PETZ Nursery 2 for Nintendo DS.
About PETZ Nursery 2:
In Ubisoft's Petz Nursery 2, care for a variety of all-new baby animals ranging from puppies to polar bear cubs. For the first time, take care of two animals at the same time, watch them play together, react to one another and even try to eat each other's food! Players can also feed, play with, train, clean and put their very own baby petz to bed. From newborns to babies, these cute petz will surprise players with their clumsy and funny personalities.
Game Features:
- Take care of up to 22 baby petz and help them grow. As newborns, your baby petz will need to be picked up and played with, and eventually taught to crawl. When night comes, help them fall asleep by rocking them or singing them a lullaby.
- There will be 22 different baby petz to unlock. You'll eventually unlock never-before-seen exotic petz. Animals such as baby pandas, tigers, polar bears, and leopard cubs, you will be able to pamper wolf cubs, piglets, and 4 different breeds of penguins!
- These playful and clumsy babies love to play together. Play activities with two babies or just one; but make sure you give both babies attention or one will develop faster than the other.
- Send your baby petz to the Petz virtual world, Petz World, and unlock exclusive exotic animals. On Petz World, your petz will be able to travel the world, set out on extraordinary adventures and meet tons of other petz!

- New Breeds: The game now features new exotic pets, to be unlocked. Playing with a cute puppy is one thing, but playing with a cute baby polar bear? Well, that's WAY over the edge of cuteness.
- Animals React Together: You can now play with two baby animals at the same time. It's so fun to see them interact with eachother.
- Lifelong Skills: I said this about PETZ Nursery, before, but my daughter is learning everything you msut do with a baby. From teaching them to crawl, rocking them to sleep, and even feeding them just right. Some pets like their bottle to be held a certain way and I see my daughter growing frustrated, but OH the sweetness on her face when she gets it just right.
- PETZ World: The new game allows you to send your growing pet to PETZ World online. We haven't done this yet, however, I think it's a great addition to the game, bringing it to the computer (when you child is away from his/her DS). There you can unlock MORE exotic animals and go on adventures around the world.
- Rated E: I love me some rated E! That just tells me, as a parent, I can feel secure in knowing that the game family friendly, free from violence, free from vulgarity, and free from just about anything you wouldn't want your 7-yr-old to see.
Momma Improvements:
I love PETZ Games, but there is one thing I always end up growing frustrated with and that's:
- Direction: I don't think there are clear cut directions when playing this game. It's hard for young children to understand what to do, where to go, how to do it. I understand it's a "learning process" as it is with real pets, but I think there needs to be a HELP option when they get stuck. Since publishing my review of PETZ Nursery last year, the Google Searches I've seen landing here at Momma Findings are "How do I feed the baby on PETZ Nursery?" or "How do I change their diaper on PETZ Nursery?" It's a constant struggle for game players. Suggestion: In knowing this, be aware your child might ask for help a LOT. Be prepared to sit with them while they play or, at least, be available to help.
Final Findings:
All in all, PETZ Nusery 2 has been a fun addition to our library of Nintendo DS games for girls. The game, however, isn't just limited to gender. My 8-yr-old son is loving it too (I think it was the exotic animals that drew him in). It makes for a great Holiday Gift this year!

PETZ Nursery 2 can be purchased at your local game store or Toys R Us for the suggested retail price of $29.99. **NOTE** As of today, Amazon does not have it in stock, besides private sellers who are selling it for up to $59.99! Best bet is to buy at your local store.
