The last few months of the year are always a time of great joy as we celebrate the Holidays together. You've got big family meals, shopping, tree decorating, and, overall, excitement of the Season. More often than not, however, you, or someone you know, is fighting the flu or horrible cold. Families of young children, are especially susceptible to catching such germs due to the amount of time spent at parks, daycare, school, and church. I, of all people, know because we've battled H1N1 just last year with my children and pneumonia the year before.

As a Mother, you always want to be prepared, but as we all know, we never are. For us, the flu strikes at the most inopportune time. So, this year, I want to help one family be prepared with items to get them through the first few days. First item on my list? Pedialyte Singles to ward of dehydration.

About Pedialyte Singles:
Introducing a new way to help your child feel better fast. Pedialyte Singles now have a great new kid-approved taste and come in a kid-friendly package! And now with clear liquid, there's no need to worry about stains from spills. 4-packs are available in Apple, Cherry, and Fruit flavors.

Momma Tips:

If you're like me, you might wonder what to actually keep in your medicine cabinet to be prepared for the Cold & Flu Season. There are a few things I do to prepare, however, Pedialyte also has great tips to keep a well stocked Medicine Cabinet.

  • Pedialyte Oral Electrolyte Solution: To hydrate your child at the first signs of diarrhea or vomiting.
  • Instant Ice Pack: To reduce swelling of bumps and bruises.
  • Antibiotic Cream: For help in healing cuts and scrapes.
  • Acetaminophen: For infants, to reduce fever and pain associated with illness.
  • Ibuprofen Liquid: For babies older than 6 months, to reduce fever and pain associated with illness.
  • Rectal Thermometer (non mercury)
  • Cotton Balls: For cleaning scrapes and cuts, and disinfecting other items.
  • Gauze and Adhesive Tape: To protect scrapes and cuts.
  • Saline Nose Drops and Bulb Syringe: To clear out nasal congestion
  • Adhesive Bandages: In various sizes, to protect cuts and scrapes.
  • Rubbing Alcohol: To disinfect instruments like thermometer and scissors.
  • Hydrocortisone Topical Cream: To relieve irritation due to rashes and mosquito bites.
  • Petroleum Jelly: For dry skin or diaper rash.
  • Child Safe Sunscreen: To protect sensitive skin from the sun’s harmful rays

A few things I like to keep on hand?

  • Sambucol: For Kids and for Cold & Flu Relief.
  • Kids-Eeze Chest Relief: For kids 6 and up, loosens mucus and thinning bronchial secretions to help clear the bronchial pathways, which in turn, makes coughs more productive.
  • Organix Chocolate Mint Cough Drops: Because sometimes you kids just NEED cough drops to taste good.
  • Vicks Soothing Vapors Vaporizer & Night Light: Helps those stuffy noses sleep better and gives a comfort of a dim light so Momma can see when you go in to take their temperature.
  • Airborne (or Store Brand): This just makes you feel better. Although I haven't given any to my kids, it helps me should I get sick. I need all the vitamins and minerals to boost my energy so I can take care of my little ones.

Momma Giving:

Thanks to Collective Bias, I had the opportunity to shop for items to fight the Cold & Flu Season and donate the basket (in my case the gift bucket) to a young family in need. Although, I can't show pictures of this family due to privacy issues, it was, an overall, awesome experience to see how grateful they were to receive such a needed gift this Holiday Season.. the gift of health prevention.

Final Findings:

All in all, I learned a lot about Flu Prevention along with signs of dehydration in children. Not only that, but also discovered Pedialyte products I didn't even know existed. My question to you is.. what do you keep in your medicine cabinet to ward of the cold and flu in your family?

Buy It:
