Olivia! Olivia! Oliviahhhhhhhhh! That song plays over and over in my head anytime I see that sweet little pig, Olivia. My daughter has taken to Olivia books, when she discovered the show on Nick Jr. She's 7-yrs-old now, so reading has become quite the hobby for her. Of course, I'm thrilled, but every time she goes to the bookstore or library, she always heads to Olivia. I, secretly, think it's because, when she was a baby all the way up to age 4ish, she carried a stuffed pink piggie with her everywhere.
This piggie was a family member and if she was lost, everyone's heart would break. We found her each and every time, but over the years, she slowly inched a little further and further from my daughter's tight grip to make room for Barbie, puzzles, and now books. She's a hit among children these days, with her hit show on Nick Jr., through books in stores across the country, and now in the fun and creative line of toys introduced my Spin Master.
About Olivia Toys:
Momma Findings:
Thanks to Team Mom, we received the Olivia 2-in-1 Transforming Playset and Olivia Plush Doll. Can I just say something really quick? Olivia is downright cool. I mean, both my 7-yr-old daughter and 3-yr-old son LOVE LOVE LOVE her. All this to say, that when this package arrived, it was not a pretty scene as they both fought over the toys. Then they remembered, Oh. We can share. What a concept.
Immediately, my son was attracted to the playset because it transforms from her house, into a pirate ship. Did I mention he thinks Olivia is unbelievably cool? The playset includes an Olivia figure and base, 23 accessories, and one sticker sheet. You know.... to decorate the house and playset with your own imagination. Also, it's so easy to carry around the house, or when your child insists on taking it everywhere you go. Not saying that from experience or anything... or am I? No, seriously, it's big, but it has a handle. Sounds kind of silly, but toys with handles make my heart flutter, just a little bit. I also, like that the playset caters to both girls and boys. My daughter loved the house and when we flipped it around, my son was ALL about the pirate ship. Oh, and my FAVORITE part is it's simple to convert. My 3-yr-old did it easily.
The Olivia plush doll was also a big hit, because, I'm not you guys know, but we're a family of stuffed animals. Let me correct myself, we're a family of about 90% Webkinz & Webkinz Jr and 10% other stuffed animals. My children fall in love toys that also double as entertainment on the TV, through books, or via video game. I think that's why we love Zhu Zhu Pets, Build-A-Bear, and especially Webkinz world. They can then use their imagination with their actual plush doll. Same goes for Olivia. They all kind of fought over who would have her, but in the end, she was agreed to be, yet again, shared. She is so interactive in our house too, sits with us when we watch her on Nick Jr., reads with us when we read Olivia books, and even takes turns having sleepovers in my kids rooms. Just like any of our adopted stuffed animals, she has become part of our family. Collect all four including Artist, Opera Singer (I secretly want this one), Cow and Outfits.
Momma Improvements:
There are a few things I was concerned with regarding the playset. It comes with 23 accessories. 23 very, teeny tiny, accessories to be more honest. The pieces are so hard to keep up with and pose a choking hazard for younger children and pets. We just got a puppy and I've already caught him with Olivia's kitchen table on more than one occasion. Improvement: Maybe the pieces can be a bit bigger, possibly attach to the set, or even come with a compartment where you can store them all together. Of course, you can always keep them IN the house, but when you open it, they all fall out, resulting in lost pieces and downright frustration.
Final Findings:
All in all, the playset has become our source of imaginative play and created an outlet for my two children, differing in age, to play together. The Olivia plush dolls are simple, soft, and a great addition to our family of stuffed animals.
