I have a very "Rough and Tumble" kinda son. He likes to wrestle, run outside, and, often, pretends he's a wild animal and I'm the wild animal's Mother. When he expects me to swing from tree to tree to simply give him a banana, well I think Forget About It! I've gotta draw the line somewhere, don't I? But for some reason I end up making Monkey Sounds and joining him for a "Jungle Picnic" on the living room floor. The things a Mother does.
Well, his favorite pretend play activity, lately, is playing Dinosaurs Under the Sea. I know. Sounds insane, I know, but it's really not. He's simply reenacting one of his favorite shows Dinosaur Train. On August 20th PBS Kids aired a one-hour special from the the Dinosaur Train hit series called Under the Sea. Children of all ages joined Buddy and the entire Pteranodon family aboard the Dinosaur Train as they embarked on their first underwater adventure exploring the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic oceans to learn about new aquatic creatures.
About Dinosaur Train Under the Sea:
Momma Findings Family Thoughts:
We had the chance to check out the Dinosaur Train Special before it hit airwaves and my son was so excited! You see, he just, recently, discovered Finding Nemo. What?! He's only 3, so he was born AFTER the movie premiered. Anyhow, adding his love for dinosaurs and his love for ocean life, this was a hit! He was singing to the tunes, dancing, and asking LOTS of questions. I think that's what I loved most about the 1-Hour Special. It was entertaining to him, but it also encourages his scientific thinking skills, while teaching about natural science, natural history and paleontology. God knows I'm no Dinosaur Expert, so I'm glad he has this show to quench his curiosity.
More Dinosaur Train Under the Sea Fun!
In addition to the the 1-Hour TV Special, PBS Kids and Paramount released Dinosaurs Under the Sea on DVD on August 24th 2010. The DINOSAUR TRAIN: Dinosaurs Under The Sea DVD includes eight exciting and whimsical adventures, as well as interactive games, coloring pages, a dinosaur reference guide and information for parents. **Note** This is not the same as the 1-Hour Special.

About Dinosaur Train Under the Sea:
To reach their destinations in this watery adventure, the Pteranodon family rides the Dinosaur Train through a glass-encased time tunnel that dives down under the sea to visit underwater stations. The fantastical train also features the new Aquacar, an open car filled with sea water to transport their new friends. Along the way, the family meets Elmer Elasmosaurus, a giant long-necked marine reptile who dives deep and can hold his breath; the Michelinoceras brothers, two sea creatures that travel backwards; Carla Cretoxyrhina, a friendly young shark; and Paulie Pliosaurus, a marine reptile known as the “T. rex of the ocean.”
