Snack Idea: NEW Simply... Go-Gurt

Tuesday, April 27, 2010 Leave a Comment

Kids love snacking. In fact, my toddler can sometimes get carried away with the snacks and when it's meal time, I feel like the worst mother ever for giving in to his snack requests all day. So, what do we do as Moms when they're begging for cookies, chips, and soda?

Well, I'm fortunate to have children who LIKE cookies and junkfood, but they prefer healthy stuff like fruit, carrot sticks, and yogurt. Now, when I say yogurt, I mean every kind and every flavor. No matter the consistency they'll grab a big bowl, the ready-to-eat cups, yogurt tubes or give me the puppy dog eyes to make them yogurt fruit smoothies. Well, thanks to Yoplait, we've got another favorite to add to that list: Simply... GoGurt.

About the NEW Simply GoGurt:
New Simply... Go-Gurt is made from simple ingredients moms look for and contains no high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors or flavors. Each convenient portable yogurt tube contains a good source of calcium and vitamin D. Simply stated, Simply... Go-Gurt is a good-for-you, low fat yogurt snack that you can feel good about giving to your kids. New Simply... Go-Gurt is available in two kid-friendly flavors, Strawberry and Mixed Berry.

Momma Findings Family Thoughts:

GoGurt is a staple in our fridge. We keep it in the fridge for easy "grab and go" snacking, but we also freeze it for those days we've been out in the sun playing. Imagine "Cool Pop" in a nice creamy yogurt consistency. the kids LOVE it. I've also found that they are easy to pack for lunch if they're frozen. By the time my kids lunch hour comes around it's still cool and keeps everything else in the lunchbox cold. Genius! Add in the face that Simply GoGurt is made with simple ingredients, all of us Mommas LOVE, we can rest in the fact that our kids are receiving a great source of calcium and vitamin D. Sweet!

I'm lucky that my kids love fruits. I found strawberries on sale a few weeks ago for 99 cents and I bought like 5 containers...cut them all into quarters and froze most of them. Now I can take a bag out of the freezer and my kids will snack on them anytime!

A seasonal healthy snack-- fresh strawberries/raspberries out of a local berry patch. Actually picking their own fruit, encourages kids to want to eat it.

I let them cook with me. My oldest son likes to pick recipes out of his sesame street cookbook, and then we cook it together. The littlest one gets to help with stirring. Somehow, if they are involved in making it, they eat so much more of it!
