Oh Yes, I'm a Verizon Palm Pre Plus Mommy Blogger!

Saturday, March 6, 2010 Leave a Comment

I, distinctly, remember making fun of my Husband and his three friends, as I sat in my living room about two years ago. They all had their phones out, tapping away, almost as if the world depended on every text message their little fingers were sending out that very moment. It's a pity.

It's a pity because, I am now one of those schmucks who can not live without my cell phone. Why? Because my life is in it! It, literally, runs on my Email, my Twitter feed, my Facebook updates, my Albums, Calendar, Contacts, and even in the Alarm Clock. So, what would one busy Mom do, if she was asked to trade her lifeline, aka: Blackberry, for a Smartphone that was made to multi-task?

Well, I am that Mom and I'm thrilled to have been chosen as one of Verizon's Palm Pre Plus Mommy Bloggers!

From now, until March 31st, I will post a series of eight articles about my experience with the NEW Palm Pre Plus. You'll find out exactly how I feel about the design, function, capability, applications, and downright coolness. It's going to go deeper than that though. Since my life LIVES in my phone, I'll be bringing all of you into my everyday struggles and adventures as a Mom and demonstrating how Palm Pre Plus can help me along the way through scheduling, internet coverage, social networking tools, maps, and more.

As a Palm Pre Plus Mommy Blogger, Verizon provided me with gift cards to purchase the phone along with one month of service. When the UPS driver rang my doorbell, I knew that it  would be the day I made the ultimate switch from the BlackBerry Storm to the Palm Pre Plus. I've got to admit. I was actually REALLY nervous about it. Again, I can not reiterate enough how important everything in my phone is to me. So I put a little blush on my cheeks, swiped on the mascara, gave my ole' toddler a pep talk about being good at the phone store, and we jumped in our SUV to take the leap, but not before grabbing my son's Leapfrog BlackBerry. Take a look at how patient my guy was throughout the process. I'm pretty sure the balloons Verizon displayed throughout the store helped too:

There was a bit of confusion, at first, when the salesperson looked at my account. Although, I visited my Verizon store, a week in advance, to make sure I was eligible for an upgrade and nail down an end price, the salesperson I spoke to before seemed to have misinformed me and my gift cards would not be near enough to purchase and switch over to the Palm Pre. As my jaw dropped and I wondered what I would do with the gift cards in hand, Grant, the Store Manager looked at my account again and, indeed, took care of me. He also explained an awesome service, Verizon provides, called Family Locater, a must-have service for Parents with teenagers, in my personal opinion. I was so impressed with the Customer Service at my Verizon Store, while they helped me purchase, set up, and import all of my contacts. Big thanks to Grant, Consuelo, and Omar for all taking the time to get this Momma all set up to introduce to the world, uh... well.. all of my readers, how the Palm Pre Plus is bringing Function to Parenting.

Stay tuned, throughout the month, as I live my life with the new Palm Pre Plus. What will I like? How does it compare to BlackBerry? How do I fit it into my life as a Mom? These are just some of the questions I'll be answering through posts, pictures, and video. So, all of you Moms and Dads out there, what functions do you regularly use with your cell phone? What is one particular function you feel you can't live without?

This post made possible by Verizon Wireless who provided me with the Palm Pre Plus and one month of service. Opinions here are solely my own and have not been wavered by products received or compensated in any other way.

Can't wait for your review! I don't have a cell phone that I can text and other goodies, just a plain nextel with the radio. Been looking at upgrading to something else.
