Potty Training Your Child with New Technology

Tuesday, February 23, 2010 Leave a Comment

We've started Potty Training my son on his 3rd Birthday. He shows signs of readiness, but he also shows signs of laziness. It's like pulling teeth to get this boy to walk to the bathroom. So, I've been looking for new and fun ways to get him excited.

I mean, the reward chart, treasure chest, and Cheerio in the toilet can only go so far, right? Don't get me wrong, all of those methods work. They've worked with my other two children and they are awesome incentives, but I need something else. Something with a little UMPH! Something that speaks to my child and relates to what he sees every day. Know what I mean?

Today, children are more technologically advanced. I mean, my son, who JUST turned 3, knows his way around my laptop, my digital camera, my iTouch, iPhone Apps, and my Blackberry like nobody's business. He sees me use these gadgets every day and has taken to them as his every day normal.

Which brings me to his favorite video at them moment, The Potty Dance:

No joke, my son watches this video and he gets FIRED up about going potty. He's relaxed. He's laughing and most of all, he's READY. We take this video everywhere we go with our favorite iPhone App, Kideos.

About:
Kideos is the premier destination for kids to safely watch videos online. Each video on Kideos has been screened by our Video Advisory Council before it makes it onto our site. Our goal is to empower parents to feel comfortable allowing their child to spend time on Kideos, while also making sure children have a thoroughly entertaining experience.

Kideos was created by Earlier Media, a company dedicated to providing a trustworthy destination for children of all ages to learn, watch videos and play games online. You can read more about Earlier Media on our website at www.EarlierMedia.com.

Momma Findings Family Thoughts:

Kideos has been a lifesaver for us while we're on the go, waiting at the Pediatricians office, grocery shopping, and in the car. First and foremost, I love that every video is carefully screened by their Video Advisory Council before it appears on their site. There are no worries that your child will pick up an inappropriate video on their screen.

The fact that you can create playlists tailored to your family, giving them all access to their favorite shows and characters is awesome.

On the site, each video is nestled in a colorful frame and there are Easy-To-Use navigation buttons for young children. That is an absolute plus with my son. He's very visual. Bright Colors, Fun graphics, along with the video keep him engaged and entertained.
