NEW Honey Kix Cereal Review & Prize Pack Giveaway!

Thursday, February 19, 2009 Leave a Comment

You guys might laugh a little, but I didn't grow up on cereal. My breakfasts usually consisted of eggs, refried beans, chorizo, and tortillas. I am Hispanic and it's just what ya do! I like to think my Mom just loved us so much that she slaved over a hot stove every morning.

My husband introduced me to an array of cereal when we married and we haven't turned back. When my kids were old enough to eat table food that was the end of it! Cereal was and will be a "must" in my house. We have a few brands that we trust, but none like General Mills. Besides all the yummy cereals they produce, they also participate in Box Tops for Education program. If you've followed my blog for awhile, you might remember my description of myself as a BoxTop Nazi?

Well, my friends at General Mills sent over a cool prize pack of the new Honey Kix Cereal. Inside was cool stuff like a ceramic beehive honey jar, a cool container to keep our cereal fresh, and a travel cereal bowl.

I don't know about you guys, but I've loved Kix Cereal from the very first day I discovered it. My husband, on the other hand, has stated there is no flavor. With the arrival of the NEW Honey Kix, we got a whole new perspective on Kix cereal. It's sweet, but not too sweet. The airy, lightness of the cereal really gives it that cool "I'm not eating junky" kinda feel. You know what I mean?

My toddler couldn't get enough of it! The best part is, my 6-year-old asked if I could mix some in his trail mix for his school snack. I sure did! I'll let you in on three ways to eat it:

1.) Rudy's way- Eat it right out of the dixie cup, no need for milk.

2.) Zach's way- Mix it in his trail mix, pretzels, or raisins for snack.

3.) Abby's way- Put it in a good ole' fashioned bowl, pour on the cool milk, and drizzle just a little honey on top.

Ah, perfect!

Win It!

I've got THREE, yes THREE, "Sweet & Simple" prize packs to give away to some cool lucky readers, which will include the following:

- 1 coupon for a free box of Honey Kix cereal
- A honey jar
- 2 Honey Kix cereal bowls
- A milk and cereal travel container
- A cereal storage container (this is my favorite)

All you have to do to enter is tell me how you guys start your morning. Do you have a routine and what is usually the choice of breakfast food?

I make muffins at least once a week and my kids always get one to grab and eat in the car while the adults eat granola bars. Weekdays are always so hectic that we don't have time to sit down to breakfast...that's what weekends are for (smile)!!

I'm pretty OCD about having everything laid out the night before. I wake up at least an hour and a half before the rest of the house, and I often cook breakfast for everyone (pancakes or eggs), then I do my school carpools. When my housework is done, I enjoy a cup of tea before heading out to work.

I am a cerealaholic! It doesn't matter what kind it is I love it all. I love oatmeal too! My kids are grown, so I get up have some coffee on the days I don't work and then eat some oatmeal or cereal and get to work.
On weekends, I usually make eggbeaters or muffins for Hubby.

We don't have a breakfast routine, because we get bored with them too easily. We keep an array of cereals around, along with egg/sausage/cheese biscuits, breakfast burritos, migas, frozen waffles, fresh pancakes. croissants, and other stuff microwaveable and toaster-friendly.

I start my day off with coffee (to get me going) and when everyone is off to school and work, then I sit down and enjoy my breakfast. Thanks for the review and giveaway...I havent had Kix in a long time, but the Honey Kix soundslike something my family would enjoy.

During the week we always eat cereal for breakfast. It's just the quickest and most convenient thing to eat. I try to get everything ready the night before. Make the coffee, set out the cups and spoon, put the cereal bowls and the cereals out on the table, etc. I try to have everything ready so in the morning we don't have much to do. We're always rushing around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to get everyone out the door.

Well, during the week, it's cereal (except hubby, he goes back and forth between cereal and slim fast). Hubby is actually sent to work with breakfast, so the travel bowls and milk holder is great. He works very long days, so he goes to work with both breakfast, morning snack (or he uses it for a late afternoon snack if he wants), and lunch, which always includes lots of fresh vegetables.
The rest of us during the week, eat cereal for breakfast.
Now, on the weekends, when there is more time, we have variety,
sometimes vegetable omelets, pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, yogurt, fruit, breakfast burrito's, hard boiled eggs, over-easy eggs, etc.. it just depends on what's on hand and what I feel like making or someones really wants me to make that day. We have variety on holidays too.

My son gets his own breakfast, and alternates between cereal, oatmeal or breakfast bars. My daughter eats cereal everyday, just switches up the type. Thanks!

My routing in the morning is trying to make it downstairs without tripping before I have my cup of coffee. My favorite breakfast food is cereal and milk!

Our mornings go smoothly because of my great husband who gets the kids up and in the shower and makes breakfast, while I pack their lunches and make sure everything is in their backpacks. We eat breakfast together - usually pancakes, waffles or scrambled eggs, but once a week they get cereal - and they walk to school.

    Thanks for the giveaway~

Weekdays are a little busier, so usually just a bowl of cereal and some fruit. weekends I like to do it a little better.

No real routine-- We eat eggos or pop tarts, and if there's enough time, I'll make eggs and turkey bacon.

We start the morning a rushed snarling mess. I'm not a morning person and neither is my son. We hate the sound of the alarm in the morning. So we're both dragging up at the last minute and he's in a rush to get ready for school and I'm in a rush to get breakfast (usually cereal since its fast).
