The First Years Sippy Cup

If you know me at all, you know sippy cups have been a pretty big deal to us. The perfect cup makes life, plainly put, simple. I mean, just take a look at my tagline on my other blog, My Sippy Cup Runneth Over.

Happiness is a good hair day and a sippy cup that doesn't leak.

My toddler is a very picky drinker and certain sippy cups he just won't have anything to do with. You can imagine my relief and downright giddy-ness, when we discovered these babies:

The First Years Insulated Sippy Cups have been a breath of fresh air. My toddler took to them immediately and kept bringing it back to me to fill with water. WATER! He NEVER drinks water! He didn't care WHAT was in there as long as he was able to drink from it.

These cups are amazing. Before I go on, The First Years company didn't send me any cups to review or incentives to write a good review. We just happened to be in the market for new sippy cups and fell in love with these. When I say love, I mean LUH-HUV!

What appealed to my toddler, first off, were the characters. He loves Micky Mouse and Winnie the Pooh so we were delighted to see our favorite characters featured on these cups. Other characters you may find are Disney Pixars Cars, Nemo, Disney Princess, and Sesame Street.

I was skeptical about the fact there is no extra spout to keep it from leaking. I mean, the cups with no extra pieces usually don't deliver, but this one DOES. I am so serious! It has YET to leak on us even after tons of dishwasher cleanings! I was thrilled not to have to mess with tiny pieces that get lost in the dishwasher or wear out after a month! It's also insulated and BPA free. Drinks are safe and stay cooler, LONGER!

They retail for 7.98 at your local Wal-mart, but you can also purchase them at stores such as Toys R Us, Amazon, and Target.

**hanging my head in shame** I contemplated a moment before I chose to post my thoughts on The First Year Sippy Cup. See ... we tried these cups and totally loved them ... at first. I thought there was nothing better on this earth than having a cup that you simply filled and screwed on the lid ... no little plugs to insert in the lid to keep it from leaking. After a couple of months of non-stop use I reached to take Lil Man from his car seat and he was soaked! I couldn't figure out how in the world he had gotten so wet. I knew it wasn't from his diaper because it was his shirt, not his shorts and because he smelled like apples instead of ... well diaper stuff. I figured that I had not gotten the lid on his cup properly and forgot about it until later that same evening when he came running to me and was wet again. I then realized that it was coming from his sippy cup and the cup that I fell so hard in love with was no longer all that I thought it was. It appears that after some time the little seal in the top of the sipper spout will breakdown and being to leak. By leak I mean pour like pouring water from a bucket ... as if drinking from a regular cup. It took some time for them to start leaking but we now have four of these leaky cups. We have moved back to cups with plugs in the lid and we no longer have the sippy cup leaks.

This is actually a brand we haven't tried. We had such bad luck with Avent sippy cups and leakage we then tried Gerber. So far it works but the plugs are a pain to clean. We may have to give this one a try.

We use these cups...I love them!!! No inserts to keep up with. We have been using them for a while and have had no problems!!!

I use these cups as well, only ours have Elmo on them. We haven't really had any problems with them. I have a bad habit of grinding up the valves for the other kind of sippy cups in the garbage disposal

im going to keep an eye out for these sippy cups! My monsters are still on the bottle, but they have been drinking out of sippy cups for a while, once they get bored of a cup, its time for a new one! This looks like a lot of fun, they love tugger and pooh!
    thanks for sharinG

We love these cups, as well! I have finally (after two years) had to throw away two lids and one cup. The valves eventually leaked, and the one cup began to leak where the lid screwed on, but they are still the best cups I have found! I don't mind replacing them after 2+ years! And the other six cups and five lids are still just fine! The only problem is that my son has chewed on them a little, making them rough on the spout, and I'm thinking the valves may eventually stretch out. I would like to get replacement lids. Has anyone found where to order them?

Like the previous poster, we are searching for replacement lids. My little darling has decided he needs to chew up the spouts like a cheese grater & we are expecting #2 in a few months... The cups are in perfect condition, but I wouldn't dare use these ground up tops. I'm still searching, but if anyone has found a place to order replacement lids, PLEASE email me!! cathyhoffmann1@hotmail.com

    Thanks!!!!

I also have two of these cups, mine are Thomas the train. I am sad because mine are now leaking. I have only had mine for 6 months and the spouts are already worn out and stretched. My son has not even chewed on them. My husband is ready to throw them out but my son love trains so much and the cups are in wonderful shape. I would love to just replace the list. Hopefully someone will find a way soon.

I loved them at first, but now the spouts are starting to mold on the inside and I cannot get them clean. I would love to find a replacement lid because the bottles are in perfect condition and I would hate to throw them out.
