I haven't been to a Halloween party in ages, but when I was a little girl (my birthday is October 16th, I used to have huge slumber parties and my parents would turn the garage into a kid-friendly haunted house. It was so much fun!!

no party but we'll be spookin' the kids that come by

My son also has a Halloween Birthday. He said the coolest plans are for the Halloween Mystery Boxes. We have several mystery boxes with a curtain in the front so you cannot see inside. Inside the boxes are bowls of Halloween "creepies". Bowl of cold, wet spaghetti = worms, bowl of frozen grapes with Jello = eyeballs....you get the point :) The kids LOVE it.

We are having a Halloween bonfire party. we love to fill those little plastic pumpkins that are two pieces and open up with treats. Then we hide them in the dark and the kids use flash lights to go on a spooky pumpkin hunt. Very fun.(montmor1@nemichigan.com)

What fun it will be with nerf balls , sponges and etc especially this time of year, I will have them go on a small ghoulish treasure hunt in my neighborhood.

and go to a Halloween Party. We always had so much fun. My husband isn't into that sort of thing, my sister moved away so I haven't been to a Halloween for several years now, those were some fun times for all of us and I miss them.

Make some scary looking food to show everyone. Then blind fold them and have them guess as they feel the food, What it is. You know eyeballs, brains, stuff like that. See how many pull away from the touch(disqualified). Best guesser wins.

  • cstironkat said:

I will be going to a Halloween party. One of the things we do is have a pumpkin carving contest with those pumpkins at the craft store. You can carve them without the mess and they last from year to year.
We also have a contest for the spookiest cupcake. Let the kids go wild with the frosting. You can use big cookies if you don't want to do cupcakes.

  • Kristin said:

No parties for me this year but I do have an activity that'll keep the kids busy for at least twenty minutes.

You can get a craft, a game, and snack for the price of a couple boxes of plain donuts and some tubes of gel frosting. Let the kids use the gels to turn the donuts into spooky faces (They're already saying boo!) and then hang the up donuts outside or over some spread out newspapers or tablecloths. The kids have to try and eat them with their hands behind their backs.

First time for everything and the party this year should be great ...

  • micaela6955 said:

This year we will not be having a party, but most likely will go trick or treating in the city at some safe spots and also attend the city sponsored party. In the past, I have created a Halloween Pinata and filled it with the usual treats and large slips of paper and/or small envies with paper and told the children they could each have ONE paper if they found it. I made sure each person attending had a paper to claim, and then the fun began. After the pinata was broken they scrambled for the candy and each claimed their paper. Each paper represented a special prize which was given to them that night. It could be a toy, a basket FULL of candy, a $5 gift card to a fast food restaurant-all sorts of options. It is alot of fun, and they loved claiming their prizes.
Keep in mind that I bargain shop all throughout the year, so this is how I was able to afford these prizes.

I am not hosting or going to a Halloween party this year, but I have done them for my kids, in the past.

A couple of the games that we played were, best costume, bop for apples (which is bad to do now I think) and hanging donuts from a string, and having the kids eat them without using their hands.

I'm always at the school Halloween parties. Usually I wear a skull shirt, but this one is way cooler than mine. I ALWAYS make creepy boxes, where you slide your hand in and feel the gross things without looking, you know, eyeballs (peeled grapes), monster fur (faux fur), vampire heart (peeled plum), brain (stuck together spagetti in shape of a bowl), and hand (rubber glove filled with cooked rice) and at the end of the party I reveal my gross secrets!!!

I'm co-hosting a party and we are doing a spooky carnival with pumpkin bean bag toss, guess what ingredients are in the cauldron (peeled grapes always great!) and some crafts (mummies and magnets). We found a Hormel flier at the grocery store for how to make a vampire pizza. Should be fun!
