Motherhood Can Be Pretty!

Seven years ago, I was a receptionist at a trendy hair salon back in my home town. Haircuts, Styles, and Products were at the tip of my fingers and I enjoyed being in the "know" when it came to finding the hottest hair styles at the time. Fun came easy while working there, but I put in long hours and lots of hard work as well. It was all paying off when I was offered an Asst. Manager's position in one of the Houston locations. Here's the thing though, I just found out I was pregnant.

The position was no longer available to me and I turned in a different direction.

Mothering.

After my oldest was born, I realized there would be no time for long, pricey haircuts and definitely no spare change lying around for expensive hair care products. Three kids later, my hair has been forgotten. I can't remember the last time I got my hair cut, colored, or pampered. The latest products for me are the ones I have a coupon for or I can throw in the grocery cart before the baby starts screaming and the oldest two run wild.

Suave hits the nail on the head perfectly with their new campaign:

"Motherhood Isn't Always Pretty"

You got that right Suave! We get so busy taking care of our families that beauty takes a backseat and we often opt for pony tails and workout clothes. Am I wrong, Mommas? Suave is here, ready to help Moms, like me, look and feel their best without paying the price.

Everyone has a different "hair profile". Mine is long, curly, frizzy, dry, and humidity is my number one enemy. If you're hair is like mine check out these great Summer Hair Care tips that Suave recommends:

-Shine Through Summer
Chlorine from the pool can quickly turn hair dry and dull. Look for hair products specially-designed to infuse shine. Also, blow dry hair from roots to ends, making sure you do not ruffle your hair. By doing this, you'll keep the cuticle of your hair lying flat, thus reflect more light and producing more shine.

-Make Summer Styling Smooth Sailing
Frizzies and fly-aways suddenly appear during the summer months with humidity at an all-time high. Achieving frizz-free hair starts in the shower with a shampoo and conditioner specially formulated to fight frizz. When Blow drying hair, be sure to blow dry from roots to ends to smooth the cuticle.

-Hold That Look
Heat and humidity can be tough to battle and here's where the right hairspray comes to the rescue. To keep a soft, full, long lasting look, use an extra hold hairspray and keep the can 8-10 inches away from t you head while spraying all over. This allows the fine mist of spray to penetrate the roots and hold the hair in place.

-Don't Let Your Hair Fall when Temps Rise
Hot Summer weather and humidity can cause your hair to lose its shape. Apply a little mousse to damp hair to add body and help control your style. For added fullness, flip your head over and blow dry the roots. when you flip you head upright, your hair will be at maximum volume.

I had the opportunity, through Mom Central, to sample quite a few Suave Products. Check it out:

My favorite products, for my hair type, are the Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner with the addition of the Extra Hold Mousse and Hairspray. These products are compared to Matrix and Sebastian products. With a salon background, I can tell you Mommas, they DO compare. Today my hair was frizz free and my curly ringlets appeared after hiding from me the last 3 months. For an added extra, the Suave Tropical Paradise Deodorant smells so good. My hair looks great and I smell like a Beachy Goddess!

Motherhood can be pretty. Suave proves that.
